Thanks to our good friend Rachel Rosenfelt, founder of the literary website The New Inquiry, we at Insert Culture have an appreciation for Brazenhead Books, the secret bookshop that’s the subject of Andrew David Weber’s lovely short film above.

Insert Culture is involved with the production of the new Web series Cubicle Songs. A collaboration between Bitmap Creative Labs, Insert Culture and Matt Lenny’s The Elm City Council, Cubicle Songs aims to bring life, laughs and music to humdrum hump days in the office. Shows will be streamed via UStream on Wednesday at 1 p.m. EST, with archives popping up on Youtube on Friday. Tune in for some great tunes!

Our good friends at Barnickel Design are responsible for our sweet new brand identity. We couldn’t be happier. Make sure you check out their services if you are in need of top-of-the-line graphic design. They have a great Tumblr, and a side project we also love called 200pt.

I’m happy to announce Insert Culture has partnered with Douglas Rushkoff’s Contact Conference. We’ll be working on administration, promotion and support during the event.
Here’s a bit about the conference:

Contact will seek to explore and realize the greater promise of social media to promote new forms of culture, commerce, collective action, and creativity. I’m inviting technologists, artists, activists, businesspeople, funders, and other stakeholders in the networked future, to come together to hatch new ideas, connect with new collaborators, and forge an ongoing community for innovating social media and beyond.
Contact Conference will be held October 20, 2011 at the historic Angel Orensanz Center in New York City. It will be a participatory festival for ideas and action, consisting primarily of meetings convened by attendees. Featured participants will deliver brief “provocations” on stage, sharing the greatest challenges they are facing in their particular fields. But their primary contribution to the day will be to join in the meetings convened by other participants, sharing their experience, insight, and even connections to help bring these ideas into reality.

I definitely hope to see you there and stay tuned for updates on the participants, events and ideas going on at Contact.
